Racing
Because the lane length of each track is unequal all drivers race once on each lane. In our 6 week championships this means that each driver has 36 races to gain as many points as possible. In this 6 week championship we drop the scores from the two lowest scoring meetings. This was done to help those drivers who work on shifts and for the junior drivers who may have school homework. Of course many of us have other committments and can not attend every race.

Special Events
The club regularly organizes special races or events. In 1998 the Viking club is hosting all 4 rounds of the South East heats fo the national 132 British Touring Car Championship. Early in 1998 we held a special event in association Hornby Hobbies and the National Scalextric Collectors Club (NSCC).

The Medway club and Viking club also run an inter-club challenge whereby each club visits the other.

Other public and corporate events are held throughout the year.

League System
We run a football league style system. Each league has 6 drivers. There are four groups A-D. Group A has the fastest drivers, with B & C having 'up & coming' drivers. Group D can have any number of drivers and this is where all new drivers and guests start - even if they are experienced drivers transferring from a neighbouring club.
When a championship is completed the two lowest scoring drivers are demoted to the next lowest group whilst the two highest scoring drivers are promoted to the next highest group.
This ensures that drivers of equal ability race together and brings 'new faces' to each group every 6 weeks.

Endurance Racing
Between the 6 week championships we run Endurance races for various car makes. We divide all drivers up into 4 to 6 teams (depending on how many people attend) usually ending up with about 6 teams of 4 drivers. Each team will race once on each lane and the total points after completing all six lanes will be added together. We race to a preset number of laps, perhaps 100 x 6 lanes. Each driver must race at least once.
Cars are placed in parc ferme before Heat 1 and must not 'tampered with' by the teams until scrutineered after completion of Heat 6. However, if the car develops faults it can be worked on during race time by the team.

The endurance races are always well attended and enjoyed.
