Axle crown gear wheel.
Brass was used in the 1960's but then moved to plastic
at the end of the 60's and into the 1970s. During this decade the majority
of colours were used with yellow and black remaining in the 1980's. For
the majority of the 80's and ever since only black (with a few exceptions)
contrates have been used. This is because all waste plastic was recycled
with a black dye for making common components such as contrate gears,
wheel hubs and, of course, underpans. |
